As an integrative physician and cancer survivor, it is comforting to know that this much-needed program is available to pick up where the office visit ends.  The Anticancer Lifestyle Program is an invaluable and highly accessible resource, informed by science, that one can use at their own pace.  The lifestyle changes recommended in the course can reduce the risk of cancer as well as other debilitating diseases, such as diabetes and heart disease.

I wholeheartedly recommend this program.

- Lesley James, MD, Pittsford, NY

“If you are a Human Resources or wellness professional looking to take your employee health and well-being strategies to the next level, the Anticancer Lifestyle Program is unrivaled.  It’s comprehensive, easy to understand, and engages employees where they are in their cancer prevention and survivor journeys, and the feedback we have received has been overwhelmingly positive and appreciative.  Offering the Anticancer Lifestyle Program to all of our employees really underscores how much we care about them and their loved ones.”

- Kieran Hull, Vice President of Human Resources and Wellness Committee Chair, Capital BlueCross

“The Anticancer Lifestyle Program is a critical offering of the Payson Center for Cancer Care and Concord Hospital. The course provides a balance of research and practical interventions for cancer survivors, arming them with the tools they need to move forward, and a road-map toward improved health and wellness. Cancer survivors report becoming more engaged in their health and empowered to take control of it.

The program contributes to the continuum of care we offer, bridging the gap for cancer survivors as they move from acute treatments to surveillance. It comprehensively addresses the question so frequently asked by cancer survivors: What can I do now?

The Anticancer Lifestyle Program is a clear illustration to our community of our unwavering commitment to cancer survivors, and demonstrates our commitment to treating the whole person–body, mind, and spirit.”

- Jody H. Blumberg, MBA, former Director, Payson Center for Cancer Care

“My patients routinely ask me what they can do to lower their risk of cancer recurrence. I refer them to the Anticancer Lifestyle Program for comprehensive information about important lifestyle modifications that will improve their overall health and lower their odds of cancer recurrence. Patients who have taken the course tell me that they now feel empowered to take control of their survivorship.

- Lisa Delahanty, APRN, MSN, Breast Care Center Manager, Concord Hospital, Concord, NH

“The Diet module of the Anticancer Lifestyle Program dives deeply into all the major aspects of healthful eating. I hear regularly from participants about the positive food and nutrition changes they have made and sustained as a result of this program. It provides an important contribution to survivors’ hope, health, and wellness.”

- Megan Ryder, RD, CSO, LD, Oncology Dietitian, Payson Center for Cancer Care, Concord Hospital, Concord, NH

“I’ve cleaned out my home of almost all my cleaning products, personal care products, aluminum and plastic cook/bake ware. I now shop at our Food Co-op (as a member) and local farmers markets.  When I do go into a traditional grocery store I read the ingredients on all the labels. I meditate daily. I eat carefully now and slowly. I avoid watching the so-called news. I move away from people who are negative and are ‘all about them’. I take time every day to practice gratitude for the bounty and beauty in my life.”

“I really loved this program…it has changed my life and makes me feel like I have some control over a non-controllable situation! THANKS SO MUCH!!”

“The food rules and presentations were amazing! They went above and beyond what I had hoped to learn.”

“This topic and presentation was awesome. Disturbingly so, but I wouldn’t water down any of the information. Wow. I learned so much (once I got over the Holy Crap-ness of the facts presented) and I find I am sharing all the info with my friends….and anyone who will stand still long enough to listen to me. I now look at my environment with completely changed vision….”

“OOOHHH where do I begin? I meditate daily. I have a weekly Reiki session. I breathe. I practice gazing at the sky, feeling my cat’s purr, sinking into my comfy bed, watching the changing shapes in the woods out back, walking more slowly and looking more intently. I try to breathe in peace whenever I can.”

“I think Janet did an awesome job of giving us lots of avenues for increasing our exercise. Also, she really emphasized the fact that there isn’t just one ‘right’ way to fold exercise into our daily routines. Every set of steps we climb during the course of a day keeps us moving….and it counts. I liked that idea. It helps me know that I don’t have to schedule in another appointment called ‘exercise’ into my calendar….that I can help my body just by walking and climbing stairs instead of driving and taking the elevator.”

“It is an excellent program and should be used for all aspects of patients, not just cancer patients. I think the group connections and how Margaret presented the information as our facilitator was great. Being connected to each other is very important to move forward and sustain a healthy lifestyle.  Thank you.”

Constant evaluation of products we use that may be sources of toxins: moving away gradually from plastic to glass storage food containers: not using as much dishwashing detergent; avoiding all clothing with toxic sprays; simplifying my life to minimize stress by de-cluttering, paying down debt, learning to cook vegetarian recipes (re-learning to spell); detoxifying dead end relationships!”

“We are at war with cancer and we want to be armed with all possible tactics to survive. I cannot thank you all enough, this has been the best class, the best medicine, the best thing I could have done for myself attending your wonderful class. God bless you all.”

“This program has enabled me to take the reins again in so many ways, feeling as though I can move forward making a positive difference in how my life may turn out.”

“I enjoyed using the tension bands and learning different moves with them.  I am now inspired to purchase my own.”
