There are more than 3,000+ chemicals on the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) Transparency List of chemicals used in the industry. A large number of the chemicals regularly used in fragrance manufacturing are of concern to public health. See this report assembled by the organization Women’s Voices for the Earth, which lists chemicals of concern in fragrance, some of which are suspected carcinogens and have been restricted for use around the world, but generally not in the United States.
