This study by Al-Natsheh et al, published in the Journal of Chromatography.B, Analytical Technologies in the Biomedical and Life Sciences, tested the migration of phthalates present in children’s toys into samples of children’s saliva under conditions that simulated real-life situations.

Of 27 samples, 17 showed migration of PVC. All samples showed migration of phthalates in excess of technically allowed limits.
