In a study published in Science Direct, researchers found that reduction of daily-use parabens and phthalates reverses accumulation of cancer-associated phenotypes within disease-free breast tissue.
Parabens and phthalates are known as “xenoestrogens” meaning sources of estrogen that are external to the body. Estrogenic overstimulation is carcinogenic to the human breast. Personal care products (PCPs) commonly contain xenoestrogens (XE), such as parabens and phthalates.
This study is a hopeful indicator that use of personal care products free of xenoestrogens can reverse their presence in the body, and therefore potentially reduce cancer risk.
