The toxic legacy of PFCs, a class of chemicals used to make Teflon and many other consumer products

The Environmental Working Group released a paper on the toxic legacy of a class of chemicals known as PFCs, or perfluorinated chemicals.  The largest manufacturer or PFCs is DuPont.  Internal documents revealed DuPont had long known that C8, also known as PFOA, caused cancer, had poisoned drinking water in the mid-Ohio River Valley and polluted the blood of people and animals worldwide.

This report gives a history of PFC use, as well as which kinds of consumer products–ncluding clothing, food wrapping, and cosmetics–often contain PFCs.
